profile
Born in 1964 in Wakamatsu Ward, Kitakyushu City, and hailing from Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. I completed my Master's degree in Landscape Architecture at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University (MLA '95). I was involved in landscape design at Haseko Corporation. After serving as an assistant at Kyoto University, I have been in my current position since 2004. In the Landscape Laboratory, we are developing "creating new ways of seeing" and "drawing landscape of future" with students, and the results are being disseminated on this site. I have received awards including the 2nd prize at the first Urban Design and Planning Competition (a joint work), the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture Encouragement Prize, and the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture Prize (Research Paper Division).
